Real world insight into modern aviation...

Kathy's vast experience gave me a "real world" insight into modern aviation, and she is an excellent instructor who can "teach" her students from that experience. She is a stickler for detail, is a credit to our community and her profession, but above all, she turns out excellent pilots. -- Curt Jenkins

Adapts her teaching style to the individual student...

Kathy is a great flyng instructor because she loves teaching as well as aviation. She understands that not everyone learns the same way, and she adapts her teaching style to the individual student. Flying with Kathy will help you develop the confidence to safely operate an airplane - and have fun doing it. --Martha Snee

The best instructor in Columbus...

I began my primary flight instruction with Kathy on a referral from a client of mine. I found her to be a top notch professional -- knowledgeable, experienced, easy to work with, flexible in scheduling, and always available for my questions. I followed a few years later with my instrument rating because I felt Kathy was the best instructor I could train with in Columbus. -- Jack Ryan, Jr.

Dollar for dollar, there is no better value...

One of my favorite things to say when asked is "I got my training at Columbus Flight Instruction out at Port Columbus, CMH." I tell people that I feel the flight instructions are very thorough and to the point, with training in a Class C airspace, but at a cost like Class D airspace. Dollar for dollar, there is no better value in central Ohio for flight training. With planes maintained as they are, my safety is never an issue. As for a confidence builder and excitement, flight training in Class C airspace is the most rewarding. The most important thing I learned from you Kathy was, how to learn how to fly. You know the old saying "give a man a fish, feed him for the day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a life time." It's not the easy way, but in flying it's the best way. -- Lonny Seitzer

An extraordinary learning experience both in the air and on the ground...

If you are looking for an extraordinary learning experience both in the air and on the ground--look no further--Kathy Samuelson, and her company Columbus Flight Instruction, are top notch and first class in every way. Kathy is the most thorough, conscientious and safety-minded flight instructor I have ever met. Anyone who has been fortunate to have taken lessons from her is a better pilot because of it! From my very first introductory flight, I was given hands-on flight experience. With Kathy, I gained both practical skills and theoretical insight into all aspects of flying. Learning at a large commercial airport like Port Columbus gave me immediate training in flying in controlled airspace. I soon had the skill and confidence to fly in and out of a major airport--this is a skill many private pilots NEVER obtain. If you are looking to master the fundamentals of flight in a friendly and relaxed environment while being pushed to constantly improve yourself but never ignoring any safety procedure, your course is a simple one: Call Kathy at Columbus Flight Instruction. -- Daniel M. Columbus Flight Instruction helped me start over again at age 55...

Kathy Samuelson was introduced to me by a friend that had used her as his primary and instrument instructor. I had learned to fly when I was 16 but never finished the program. I started over again at age 55 in a Cessna 152 and 172 and earned my private and instrument. With a solid foundation from Columbus Flight Instruction, I have gone on to flying high performance aircraft - I have progressed through multi-engine, King Air turbo-prop, and a Cessna CJ2 jet. All of this in the past 11 years. I would highly recommend Kathy to anyone having a keen desire to fly. -- J.Parsio

The perfect fit...

At 53, this husband-wife elder statemen team had a mid-life crisis and decided that if they did not learn to fly NOW (that was in 1992) they never would. From the first introductory handshakes with Kathy Samuelson at Port Columbus, to the directive in "50-Mike" (the Cessna 152) that "the left seat is yours, I'll handle the radios", through several hours of dual instruction, to the first solos, dual cross-countries, solo cross-countryies and final checkrides, Kathy's instruction techniques were superb, professional, and non-judgmental. When it was just a bad day, Kathy was always upbeat with continuing encouragement tempered with insight. For anyone of any age seeking outstanding professional instruction, Kathy Samuelson and "50-Mike" would be the perfect fit. -- Joan and Dave Hornbeck

The coolest gift I had ever received...

Flying is something I have always wanted to do. When my wife presented me with a gift certificate for my first two flying lessons for Christmas this year all I could think of was... this was the coolest gift I had ever received. I was so excited! It was like being a kid again and opening the one present that was a complete surprise.

My wife had done her homework and called many flight instructors before making a decision on which company and which person she would feel comfortable teaching me how to fly...she chose Kathy at Columbus Flight Instruction. She made the decison to use Columbus Flight Instruction after speaking with Kathy on the phone. She sensed Kathy's passion for flying and her passion for teaching from the moment she said hello...and she was RIGHT! Kathy is a thorough teacher with a great ability but more importantly she teaches how to be safe while making flying fun!

I will remember forever the day I did my solo flight and how I felt...even though Kathy was standing on the ramp watching me taxi away on my own (as I am sure she has done so many times before) I flew that plane as if she was sitting right next to me coaching me all the way. It was the thrill I always knew it would be. When I told all my family and friends about my solo flight they all asked how could you do something like that... weren't you nervous? The fact was I wasn't nervous at all! Kathy's training helped me have fun while building my confidence to a point where flying that plane was as normal as driving my car. I am not done with my training and I have a lot to learn... but I am enjoying each lesson and each flight. -- John Stamm

Learn to work with traffic control and other aircraft right from the start...

To be a competent private pilot, you have to learn not only how to control an airplane, but also how to share airspace with other aircraft (including commercial flights), how to work with air traffic control and other pilots, and how to communicate over the radio. By learning to fly at Port Columbus, you get the opportunity to experience these skills all right from the start. Kathy is right there to make the learning easy and safe. -- Bruce Hieber

Kathy made sure I kept a steady and positive rate of learning...

I met Kathy Samuelson in July 2001, when I treated myself to a demo ride for my birthday. I was in graduate school back then and was not able to afford more than a class every couple of weeks, yet Kathy made sure I kept a steady and positive rate of learning through that time. I cannot recommend her enough -- she is encouraging, knowledgeable and, simply put, makes you feel safe in the cockpit. -- Rodolfo Martell
